- Under 5: Best suited to private safari vehicles and lodges with fenced grounds. Short, flexible game drives work well. Many camps have babysitting services.
- Ages 5–12: The sweet spot for family safaris. Most camps welcome this age group and offer junior ranger programmes, nature walks, and bush skills classes.
- Teens (13+):Old enough for walking safaris, gorilla trekking (in Uganda and Rwanda, minimum age 15), and canoe safaris. They'll love the adventure and photography opportunities.

Recommended Trip Durations
